The Music Ministry of Bethlehem

In Biblical times, people gave homage to God with trumpets, harp and lyre, strings, flute and cymbal. Here at Bethlehem, so do we!    

Timeless truths of traditional hymns, fresh contemporary melodies, choral cantatas and little children singing "Jesus Loves Me" - all are important here. 

All of these melodies resonate with the human spirit while breathing life into the Scriptures that are the foundation of our faith.


There is a place for everyone here...

All are welcome, and encouraged to join and make a joyful noise! No special talents or requirements necessary, just a willingness to serve and honor God through music. This is a place for the entire family.

  • The Adult Choral Choir - serves to learn and sing a variety of styles of sacred music to praise our Lord. We describe ourselves as easy-going, but serious, with a wonderful spirit of camaraderie. And don't worry, one does not have to read music to join. We perform weekly at services, with the exception of 4 - 6 weeks in late summer, as well as at special events. Sometimes we even get to do a concert!!! We provide two cantatas annually: at Advent and Lent. We are always looking for more members and would welcome your addition to our ministry. We rehearse weekly on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
•  Kid's Choir - is for children grades 2-8. We meet on Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. We sing as often as possible   and will occasionally join the adult choir for a very special offering of musical gifts. It is our goal to sing in a service once a month, as well as special events. Quite spectacular!

•  Praise Team - We have a number of musicians who share their talents for the 9:30 am Family Service on Sundays.There is truly a wide variety of music for worship, and anyone who would like to join this group, be it as a soloist or with others is welcome. 

•  Special Soloists - The music ministry is always looking for and honored to have special soloists join in on any given Sunday. We have a number of very special musicians in, and outside of our congregation, and you might be one of them! It makes the worship service very special, indeed! So if you play or sing, let's set a date! to glorify God with our gifts!

•  Preschool Music - There is now a comprehensive music program at Bethlehem Lutheran Preschool taught by Debbie Rider. This ministry will soon allow us to have even the youngest among us participate in His Praise on Sunday morning as well as special occasions.

  • Adult Handbell Choir - The Handbell Choir is a great way for people to get involved in music ministry for those who can’t, don’t or choose not to sing. We make music and praise the Lord with our hands. We have a fun-loving group, which makes rehearsals a great experience, as well as our performances and the occasional get-together.  We have multiple levels of handbell choirs based on music level and experience. Regardless of your music level, or lack thereof, we have a place for you!

  • Children’s Handbell Choir - Children are a wonderful part of the BLC family. One of the wonderful ways to get our children connected with the Body of Christ, is to have them be a part of our regular ministry service. Our Children’s Handbell choir is for all-ages and rehearses on Sunday mornings during the 11:00 am service in Disciples’ Hall.

At BLC, the Music Ministry is family...

The choirs are true Life Groups and have social events throughout the year, A special time for our group is during the annual weekend retreat full of rest and relaxation. We have a wonderful time filled with fun, fellowship, eating, a workshop and a performance at a local church. For the past two years we have enjoyed the beauty of Jekyll Island. Join us and become a part of the family!
